Tacloban City, Finally
After the much anticipated wait (and after failing to arrive on time yesterday), we finally arrived in Tacloban City on the morning of February 4. Seminar conference this time was held at the Holy Infant College. Nice school. Very spacious. And people here are very hospitable. As it was, the city was in for a heavy downpour. All day. After a day’s work and lecture, off we go to various places where we could buy our traditional pasalubongs for our friends and relatives. Daing and tuyo were the name of the game here. There’s daing and tuyo all over the place. And did I say daing and tuyo in all directions?
Unfortunately, time was not on our side. Obviously, we had to do much with our very limited time. But I guess a trip to Leyte is never complete without catching a glimpse of the world-famous San Juanico Bridge. And so, the group decided to take a closer look of the structure, which is around 40 minutes from the city. Once there, the site was truly amazing and breath-taking! Very enticing definitely. Sarap magpabalik-balik dito. By crossing the bridge, we officially reached the island of Samar. That means dalawang ulit kaming dumaan sa tulay na ito. Wala lang, balik din kaagad sa Leyte. Trip lang. Basta, mahusay ang mga gumawa nito. Malupit…
Our entire trip was very enjoyable. I just hope that we had more time. So many places to visit, so little time. Next up sana, MacArthur Park in Palo, Leyte. Sayang, hindi namin napuntahan. Hope to return to Leyte in the near future.. Maupay nga aga!
