Pangulong Bonifacio

Astig ang dokyu ni Howie Severino sa GMA-7 noong nakaraang Lunes ng umaga na may pamagat na ‘Bonifacio, Unang Pangulo?’.  Binigyang buhay ang isang bayaning tila patuloy na nilalapastangan sa ating kasaysayan… ang ‘Supremo ng Katipunan’… ang ‘Ama ng Demokrasyang Pilipino’… biktima ng ‘kauna-unahang kudeta’ sa kasaysayan ng Pilipinas…

Sa pangkalahatan, nawa’y isaisip nating lahat na hindi monopolyo ni Jose Rizal ang kabayanihan.  At marahil balang araw ay magbabago ang mukha ng ating pambansang bayani batay na rin sa pangangailangan ng panahon at kabuluhan ng kanilang mga gawain sa nakaraan.  Isang pagpupugay kay Gat Andres, isang tunay na bayaning Pilipino…

Ride A Jeepney, Ask For Money

I accidentally got hold of a flyer from the so-called United Christian Mission (Luzon Chapter) whose devoted followers frequently hitch jeepneys along Pedro Gil St. in Paco area and then solicit money from bewildered passengers.  This doesn’t surprise me at all because whenever the Christmas season nears, I notice that these people suddenly appear… 

But as always, the nagging question remains: are these individuals and other similar groups for real?  Or are they just plain gimmicks or deception?  Signatory in the flyer was a certain Bro. Ace Alconera.  There were no indicated office or business addresses whatsoever except for a lone contact (celfone) number.  For those who are interested to know more about the group’s mission (aside from the usual solicitations), try calling or texting this number: 09065130669.  Then let us know…

Off and Running

They are all off and running…  The Boston Celtics are exciting to watch this early in the NBA.  With Pierce, Allen, and Garnett being ably assisted by House, Rondo, Posey, and the rest of the gang, it’s no wonder the Celtics are sitting right on top in the East.  How I wish they can breeze through the eliminations and get everything done in the playoffs.  Celtics vs. Mavs in the Finals?  Haha!  Don’t push it…
